Things aren’t looking good for President Donald Trump’s image with the American people. A poll conducted by PPP, that was commissioned by End Citizens United, shows that the people aren’t pleased. People are becoming evermore disillusioned with the system and our government. The poll found that 61% of Americans now support an investigation into Russia’s involvement with the 2016 Presidential Election. To make matters worse, 52% believe that there was Russian involvement. The decision to fire FBI Director James Comey, was a move that 51% are opposed to. The poll also found that 56% are displease with President Trump’s job performance, which is an all time low.
End Citizen’s United is a grass roots political action committee that is committed to driving big money out of politics. They will keep supporting an independent investigation to get to the bottom of this issue. To this end, along with Every Voice, End Citizen’s United has launched Independent Investigation Now. This is a national campaign that will include paid advertising, polls, earned media, and grass roots action, to get senators to sanction an independent investigation to determine if President Trump and Russia did rig the election. The current polls show that Americans want answers, and End Citizen’s United is determined that they shall have answers.
End Citizens United has been working hard to raise money. They plan to use this money to put democrats back in office. In just the first 3 months of this year they have raised 4 million dollars. This money was donated by 100,000 donors, 40,000of those people were first time donors. End Citizens United looks to raise 35 million dollars by the 2018 midtern elections for Congress. They say that their goal is elect “campaign-finance reform champions” to Congress. Those who have donated to the PAC say that they feel the system only supports those who write the biggest checks. Donating, they feel, is a way to fight back against the system to see much needed change.
End Citizens United does operate as a traditional PAC, this means that they cannot accept donations over 5,000 dollars from any one individual. This is very different from a super PAC which can raise and spend unlimited amounts of money. The group is still deciding which battle it will fight in 2018, but indicate they may defend Democratic Senators Sherrod Brown of Ohio and Jon Tester of Montana.
