The first question posed to Sujit Choudhry during his interview with CEOCFO Magazine was what is the concept behind the Center of Constitution Transitions. Mr. Choudhry responded that his Center of Constitution Transitions serves as a forum to share constitutional knowledge and research. This knowledge and research can be used by governments who are forging new constitutions or making changes to their existing ones.
His Center of Constitution Transitions works with constitutional law experts, historians, government representatives, NGOs and think tanks that all have a stake or knowledge in constitutional making. Sujit Choudhry is proud to have worked with over 50 different experts from across 25 different nations. It is truly a global collaborative project.
The next question given to Sujit Choudhry by CEOCFO Magazine was what inspired him to form the Center of Constitution Transitions. Sujit Choudhry said that he has worked as an advisor for the creation and amendment of constitutions for many developing countries in the world. Mr. Choudhry says that there is a lot of knowledge out there that can answer the questions that arise when a new constitution is laid out. There are also many questions that are still left unanswered because there is no recorded knowledge of those issues. Sometimes the issues that arise in new constitution formation have never been thought of before. The Center of Constitution Transition aims to help fill the knowledge gap that exists in constitutional law and constitutional creation.
Sujit Choudhry was then asked about his own immigrant background and what led him to his success and expertise in the field of constitutional law. Mr. Choudhry responded by saying that he has law degrees from three different nations. He studied in the United Kingdom where he graduated from Oxford University.
