The foundership story of the Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund is a peculiar one. The fund solely exists to contend with the government by holding it accountable for any misuse of office to infringe on minority rights.

The fund did not exist until a then power-corrupted sheriff, Mr. Arpiao, aggrieved by the way Lacey and Larkin were exposing his underhand and rogue policing activities, decided to hold and detain them unconstitutionally. When Joe Arpaio, Sheriff of Maricopa County, arrest Jim Larkin and Michael Lacey, he made one of the biggest mistakes of his career. The incident caused nationwide discussion and made Arpaio famous in ways he didn’t wish for. Prior to the illegal arrest of Larkin and Lacey, two journalists, Arpaio’s corrupt actions were reserved for local eyes.

Since 1992, Joe Arpaio has been terrorizing Arizona citizens. In 1993 he created a brutal prison facility called Tent City. Since around 2005, he has been specifically targeting the immigrant community.
